The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>Packers Sign FA Wide Receiver Funchess

(Green Bay, WI)  — Multiple sources are reporting the Green Bay Packers have signed a free agent wide receiver. Devin Funchess was a second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2015. He played there for four years, then just managed to appear in one game last season for the Indianapolis Colts.  The Packers are hoping the big six-four, 225-pound can bounce back and show the form he did at times in Carolina. Dropped passes have been a major issue for him, but he scored 21 touchdowns with the Panthers and could provide Aaron Rodgers with a big end-zone target next season.

>>Short-Circuited Season Not Good For Bucks’ Attempt To Retain Antetokounmpo

(Milwaukee, WI)  — Before the current N-B-A season was interrupted, it looked like a certainty that superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo would spend his career in Milwaukee. He has repeatedly stated his wish to be with the Bucks and establish a winning tradition. It looked like the team was headed for an N-B-A title before the stoppage and that would seemingly have shown the Greek Freak the future he is looking for. He could still stay in Cream City – and this is still the likely resolution – but dozens of N-B-A stars have said the same thing, then bolted for another team. Antetokounmpo is eligible for a five-year, 247-million-dollar max deal this off-season. It will be significant if he decides to take it.  He’s not a free agent until the summer of 2021.

>>Honors Keep Pouring In For Marquette Marksman Howard

(Milwaukee, WI)  — Marquette senior guard Markus Howard has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ All-American first team. Tuesday’s announcement means Howard is a consensus first-team All-American since he’s also been honored by The Sporting News, Associated Press and U-S Basketball Writers Association. He joins Dean Meminger, Butch Lee and Dwyane Wade as the Golden Eagles’ only consensus first-team All-Americans after leading the nation’s scorers with 27-point-eight points-a-game this season.

>>Pepperdine Standout Transfers To UW Volleyball

(Madison, WI)  — Already one of the favorites to claim an N-C-A-A national volleyball title next season, the Wisconsin Badgers have picked up a transfer from Pepperdine University. Deahna Kraft will have at least one season of eligibility remaining. Coach Kelly Sheffield says he recruited Kraft when she was in high school and he calls her a fiery competitor who has a complete game.  She is a six-foot outside hitter-defensive specialist and has competed in sand volleyball for the Waves for three seasons, earning several national awards and honors.
