>>Packers Focus On Bringing 2024 NFL Draft To Green Bay

(Green Bay, WI)  —  With the cancellation of the live 2020 NFL Draft in Las Vegas, the Packers have switched their focus to bring the 2024 event to Green Bay. Cleveland will host the draft next year, then Las Vegas gets another shot at it. It’s Kansas City in 2023 and the Packers hope they can host it the year after that. Team President and CEO Mark Murphy confirmed the effort in his monthly question-and-answer column which was released last weekend. This year’s draft went virtual in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

>>Golden State Warriors Think Antetokounmpo Can Return Them To Success Quickly

(Oakland, CA)  —  One report has the Golden State Warriors ramping up a major effort to get superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo as early as the upcoming off-season.The Milwaukee Bucks star isn’t a free agent until 2021, but the Warriors see him as being the way they can get back to respectability quickly. If the Bucks decide they won’t be able to stop the six-11 scoring machine from testing out free agency, they might be open to a trade – and NBC Sports Bay Area is pointing out that Golden State has a lot of trade assets to offer.  Of course, Milwaukee wants to keep its biggest asset at home and work is being done on that objective right now.

 

>>Admirals Goalie Named AHL Man Of The Year

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  The American Hockey League has picked a member of the Milwaukee Admirals as it’s Man of the Year. Milwaukee television station WTMJ reports goalie Troy Grosenick is the first Admiral to ever win the award. Grosenick says it’s disappointing his team may not have a chance to go for the Calder Cup.  He was chosen Man of the Year for his work in the community. Grosenick says it’s his aim to “make a difference” where he lives.  When the coronavirus pandemic stopped play in most professional sports the Admirals had the best AHL record.

 

>>NFL Decides No International Games For 2020 Season

(New York, NY)  —  The NFL has decided it won’t play any international games during the 2020 season. The full schedule will be released Thursday evening.  Five games had been set up for London and Mexico City, but the league is blaming the coronavirus pandemic for the decision to bring those contests back to the U-S. The Jacksonville Jaguars were scheduled to play games in consecutive weeks at Wembley Stadium in London. The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins were going to host a pair of games at the new facility in Tottenham and the Arizona Cardinals were in line to host a game at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.  All five games will be played on the teams’ home fields instead.

 

>>Badger Star RB Says He Got Surprising Text After His Name Was Called In NFL Draft

(Madison, WI)  —  Former Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor says at least one of the texts he received after hearing his name called during the N-F-L Draft was a surprise. Colts quarterback Philip Rivers congratulated Taylor and said he “can’t wait to go to work.” After playing with the Chargers for more than a decade, Rivers signed with Indianapolis as a free agent.  He’ll likely be the one handing the ball off to Taylor during his rookie season. Taylor says he heard from another former Badger running back, Melvin Gordon, who told him Rivers is a competitive man. Gordon played with Rivers on the Chargers.
