>>Milwaukee Brewers Pick 20th In 2020 MLB Free Agent Draft

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  The Milwaukee Brewers have the 20th pick in today’s (Wednesday’s) 2020 Major League Baseball Free Agent Draft.  The first round gets underway at 6:00 p-m Central Time and it includes the first 37 picks.  The second day includes rounds two-through-five starting Thursday at 4:00 p-m.  Instead of the more than 12 hundred players chosen in 40 rounds last year, 160 players will be drafted this time.  There will be a two-day “quiet period” after the draft, then teams can sign an unlimited number of undrafted free agents – but, their bonuses will be limited to 20 thousand dollars.

 

>>Former Packers Fan Favorite Inducted Into Kansas Sports Hall Of Fame

(Wichita, KS)  —  Former Green Bay Packers fan-favorite Jordy Nelson will be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in October.  Nelson was a consensus All-American when he played for the Kansas State Wildcats.  He holds several school records.  The honors are rolling for the wide receiver because he is also about to be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame.  Nelson played 10 of his 11 NFL seasons for the Packers, closing out his career in Oakland.  He played with the Packers Super Bowl 45 champions in 2010 and was named to the NFL Pro Bowl in 2014.

 

>>Despite Uncertainty, 85% Of UW Season Ticket-Holders Have Re-Upped

(Madison, WI)  —  Coach Paul Chryst says it’s “powerful” and athletic director Barry Alvarez says it’s an indicator of the trust, loyalty and belief between the Badgers football program and its fans.  Eight-five percent of the team’s season ticket holders have re-upped for the 2020 season – despite the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.  The Badgers have averaged 93 percent for more than 20 years, but this year’s mark is seen as a reason for celebration due to the unique situation.  There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Wisconsin’s six-game schedule at Camp Randall Stadium.

 

>>I-94 Basketball Rivalry Scheduled To Resume December 5th

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  The Wisconsin Badgers and Marquette Golden Eagles have announced the two basketball programs will resume the I-94 rivalry December 5th with a game at the Fiserv Forum. This will be the 127th meeting between the two Wisconsin universities, with the Badgers winning 68 times and the Eagles taking 58, so far.  Wisconsin won last year’s showdown 77-61.  Marquette holds a 40-to-29 edge in the games that are played in Milwaukee.

 

>>Jonathan Taylor, Dana Rettke Named Badgers Athletes Of The Year

(Madison, WI)  —  Record-setting running back Jonathan Taylor and three-time first-team All American Dana Rettke have been named the University of Wisconsin’s athletes of the year.  That means Taylor and Rettke are also officially nominated for the Big Ten Conference athlete of the year honors – which will be awarded Thursday.  Rettke is a six-foot-eight junior middle blocker who led the Badgers to the NCAA volleyball championship game.  Taylor rushed for six-thousand-174 yards in three seasons with the Badgers – the highest three-season total for any Division One running back in history.  He was taken in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft last April by Indianapolis.
