The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>MLB Owners, Players Finally Agreeing On Some Things

(New York, NY)  --  The Major League Baseball Players Association has reportedly embraced the owners’ proposal to only play a regional schedule in 2020, limiting travel as much as possible.  The two sides haven’t agreed on very much until this week – even though they both say they’d like to start the season next month. The players still want to have a 114-game season since they’re being paid-per-game.  The owners prefer something in the 50-to-60 game range because there will be no fans in the stands.

>>Man Breaks Into Miller Park Causes Minor Damage to Field

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  The Milwaukee Brewers say a man was arrested Tuesday morning for breaking into Miller Park.  The team says the suspect illegally entered the stadium around 7 a-m and caused minor damage to the playing field.  He was taken into custody by police a short time later.  The Brewers' statement said there is "no indication whatsoever" that it was related to recent protests in Milwaukee and throughout the country over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

 >>Rodgers Excited To Get WR St. Brown Back As A Target

(Green Bay, WI)  --  He gave an idea of what he is capable of accomplishing during a promising 2018 rookie season at wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers.  After sitting out 2019 with an injury, Equanimeous St. Brown could be a big factor for his team if and when the NFL season starts.  Quarterback Aaron Rodgers says St. Brown has a great approach to the game.  Rodgers says he’s excited about the wide receiver who caught 21 passes for 328 yards when he was healthy.  The departures of tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receiver Geronimo Allison mean two guys who were targeted 115 times last season aren’t around anymore.  Many of those passes could go to St. Brown who is big and has run a 4-48 time in the 40.

>>Gary Grzesk Staying At St. Norbert, Takes His Name Out Of Contention For UW-GB Job

(De Pere, WI)  --  Basketball coach Gary Grzesk says it isn’t easy to pass on the head coaching job at his alma mater, U-W-Green Bay.  Grzesk is staying at nearby St. Norbert, according to his explanation on Twitter.  He says timing just isn’t right for him.  Observers in Green Bay say the leader of the Green Knights was the top choice for the same job with the Phoenix.  Former Phoenix player Ben Johnson and assistant coach Brad Soderberg are now being considered.  The person chosen will replace Linc Darner who departed last month.

>>Former Packer DL Mike Daniels Would Like To Come Back To GB

(Green Bay, WI)  --  Thirty-one-year-old free agent defensive lineman Mike Daniels says he is in the best shape of his eight-year career.  Daniels lost time to injuries the last two seasons and COVID-19 has stopped him from working out for teams this off-season.  He says he’d like to be a Packer again – where he played his first seven N-F-L seasons.  Daniels says he believes he would be an impact player in the Packers defensive scheme.  He played for the Detroit Lions last season.

>>High School Coach Says Stanley Can Be Successful NFL QB

(Menomonie, WI)  --  His Menomonie High School coach says Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Nate Stanley can be successful in the N-F-L.  Stanley was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 N-F-L Draft after starting three seasons for the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Mustangs coach Joe LaBuda says his former star has the physical tools, the work ethic and intelligence to do the job.  LaBuda points out only 16 players in the history of the N-F-L scored higher than Stanley on the Wonderlic test.  He’ll need to beat out either Sean Mannion or Jake Browning to earn a backup quarterback job with Minnesota – and his coach says he can do it.
