Alvin Meisel
Alvin J. Meisel, 87, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1928 to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Siebert) Meisel in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Alvin married Mary Jane Wuest on April 28, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.
Alvin was a Combat Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He retired in 1990 after working for 25 years at Mercury Marine.
Alvin is survived by his daughter, Ellen (Phillip) Recht of West Bend; two grandchildren, David (Sarah) Recht and their children, Aaron and Grace; and Michael (Kelsey) Recht and their child, Tyler. He is further survived by one sister, Lila (Al) Vehrs; brother-in-law, Bernard (Bette) Wuest and sister-in-law, Kate Wuest; nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane in 2002; five siblings: Herbert, Elvera Luhn, Carl, Lucille Sublette and Helen Grenough.
Visitation: Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue in Fond du Lac, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, following the visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice.
