Armella M. Thiel

Armella M. Thiel, age 95, of Chilton, died on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Libby’s House in Chilton. She was born April 29, 1920 in Stockbridge, daughter of the late Lewis & Ruby (Hostettler) Gerhartz. She married Randolph “R.A.” Thiel on May 15, 1942 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. Following their marriage, she assisted her husband with many of the duties in their auctioneering business in Chilton. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Chilton and St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert where she had also been a member of the Christian Women. Armella was a voracious reader and absolutely loved to travel with her husband. She proudly reached 109 unique destinations throughout the world. On occasion, she would also be seen pheasant hunting with her husband and once gave a try at wild boar hunting but realized that once was enough. With a warm and gracious servant’s heart, Armella was a model wife, mother and grandmother. She constantly went out of her way for others to bring them joy with her warm and personable spirit. Survivors include her husband: R.A.; her children: Jerry Thiel, Jack (Vicki) Thiel, Tom Thiel and his fiancée Maggie; 5 grandchildren: Dori (Tim) Duchow, Brad (Dawn) Thiel, Kendall (Cindy) Thiel, Tamara (Nick) Geiser, Miranda Thiel; 12 great grandchildren: Kale, Keaton, Ashley, Brittney, Andrew, Alisa, McKenzie, Brady, Carliann, Lukas, Bennett & Ella; 2 great-great grandchildren: Lyden & Oliver; her siblings: Lula Schoen, Delmar (Ruth) Gerhartz, Bernita Perry, Marvin (Phyllis) Gerhartz, Lyle (Betty) Gerhartz, Donna Commerford; and a sister-in-law: Mary Jane Gerhartz. Armella is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Jane Thiel; a brother: Gary Gerhartz; and a sister: Irmine Denslow. Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until 11:15 am on Friday, May 22, 2015. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Armella M.
