Barbara “Barb” Lucas

Barbara “Barb” Lucas, 75, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at Kindred Hearts.

She was born to the late Leonard and Emma Aubinger Nelson, November 9, 1937, in Niagara, Wisconsin. Barb graduated from Niagara High School in 1955 and moved to the big city of Milwaukee to work as a secretary at Mill Printing. She was married in 1959 and moved to Fond du Lac shortly thereafter where she began her role as a homemaker and mother. Barb was a volunteer for St. Agnes Hospital, delivered Mobile Meals and did some volunteer work for St. Joseph’s Church and school.

Barb worked as a receptionist and secretary for the Vocation of Rehabilitation and later as a receptionist for the Fond du Lac County Veterans Office until 2003. She loved to follow the Brewers, Badgers, Packers, and the Bucks and had a love for her grand-dogs, Kojak, Kia, Cooper, Randie, and Jackpot.

Barb is survived by three children: Mark Lucas of Fond du Lac, Steve (Amy) Lucas of St. Peter and Jennie (Terry) Holzmann of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren: Dakotah Lucas, Skylar Lucas, Hannah Holzmann, Luke Holzmann, Isaac Holzmann, and Emma Holzmann; her brother Gerry (Shirley) Nelson of Kaukauna; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her sister Shirley (Doc) Rudolff and a brother Ronnie (Maria) Nelson.

Visitation:   Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 7, 2013, 9:30 to 10:45 am at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac.

Services:  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday at 11:00 am.  Burial will take place at the Niagara Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to St. Mary’s Springs Second Century Campaign, 114 Amory Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.

A special thanks goes to the wonderful care givers at Kindred Hearts of Fond du Lac, Heartland Hospice, and also to the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.
