Charlene “Dolly” Mary Lindsley

Charlene “Dolly” Lindsley, 80, went to her heavenly home on Saturday Aug. 17, 2013 with her beloved family gathered around her. She was born August 9th, 1933, in Campbellsport, the daughter of Norbert and Eleanor (Schlaefer) Uelmen. She was a graduate of St. Matthew’s Grade School and Campbellsport High School. On September 29, 1956 Dolly married Robert Lindsley at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Dolly was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and Christian Women and Campbellsport Library Board. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother, and was involved with Mobile Meals, Alcoholic Anonymous, St. Matthew’s Fall Festival Committee and Lion’s Club Plays (directed by the late Helen Pelischek). Dolly was an avid reader, enjoyed painting, crossword puzzles and had a love of music and musicals, especially “Hello Dolly” and “The Sound of Music”.
Dolly leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Bob, her children; Julie (Butch) Roth, Jeff (Jackie), Tim (Gail), Mike (Tammie), all of Campbellsport, Scott (Sue) of St. Cloud, Marci (Tom) Cochenet of Eden and Pat (Laura) of Tomahawk, 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, her sisters; Rosie (Bratz) Pierret and Patti (Mark) Bobzien, her sister-in-laws; Julie Uelmen, Rosanne Schill Uelmen and Marilyn (Ed) Hackbarth, her brother-in-law; Tucker Wolf and many nieces and nephews along with numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; Jack, Bud and Harry Uelmen, her sister, Kathy Wolf and her in-laws; Orvis and Josephine Lindsley, Dale and Kate O’Malley and Audrey and Jim Lindsley.
Dolly will be missed for the many cookies she made, Skittles and snickers that were always present, her imaginary friends she shared with grandchildren and none of us can forget the friendly ghost “Charlie” that lived in the attic. The many paintings she made will always hold a special place in our hearts along with time spent on the “front” porch on Main Street.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Aug. 20th at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St. Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and inurnment will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of a visitation, a gathering will follow in the church dining room.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Campbellsport Library, St. Matthew’s School or Agnesian Hospital Hope.
The family thanks Father Neil Zinthefer and the Hospice Home Healthcare providers for helping Dolly/Mom move from this life to the next with pride, dignity and the love she deserved.
