Constance M. “Connie” Bastian

Constance M. “Connie” Bastian, 82, of Sun
Prairie, Wis., died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in
Madison, Wis., following a period of declining health. She was born in Fond du
Lac, Wis., on July 7, 1933, daughter of Andrew and Agnes (Whitty) Brown.

 

Connie was raised on the family homestead in
Eden, Wis. She graduated from Lomira High School and worked for a number of
years in Fond du Lac at both Galloway-West and later at First Federal Savings
and Loan. It was there that she met Donald M. Bastian. Connie and Don were
married in Fond du Lac on April 21, 1956 and lived on 11th Street
for most of their lives together. Don preceded her in death in 1981. Connie
moved to Sun Prairie in the 1990’s to be closer to her family as well as the
artistic opportunities afforded by being in close proximity to Madison. Connie
intensely loved the arts as an accomplished artist, involved herself in
numerous art classes in the Appleton, Wis., Madison and Rhinelander, Wis.,
areas. Her preferred mediums of art included life drawing, oil painting,
watercolor, and collage. She also greatly enjoyed art and cultural museums as
well as art exhibitions. Connie’s artwork is deeply cherished by her family. In
addition to art, she also enjoyed reading, antiquing, listening to talk radio
and visiting with family and friends.

 

She is survived by her son; Mark (Julie) of
Madison; 2 grandsons, Emery and Oakley Bastian of Madison; 2 sisters, Annette
Miller of Harwich, Mass. and Christine (Woodbury) Fogg of Belmont, N.H.; a
brother, Andrew (Doreen) Brown of Eden; a niece, Nicole Ingalls of
Norridgewock, Mass.; and 2 nephews, Jay Miller of Worcester, Mass., and Nathan
Bacon of Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her oldest
son, Michael; her parents, Andrew and Agnes; her husband’s parents, Mark and
Glen Bastian; and a brother-in-law, Robert Miller.

 

Visitation for Connie will be held Saturday,
September 19, 2015 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N.
Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 AM.
Burial will take place after the service in Calvary Cemetery, 686 Fond du Lac
Ave. in Fond du Lac.
