Daniel John Mayer

Daniel John
Mayer, 94, of 213 S. Hickory Street, Fond du Lac, passed away Saturday, June
11, 2016 at the Hospice Home of Hope.

He was born
on May 2, 1922, the son of John and Loretta Mayer. He graduated from Lomira
High School in 1940. He joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Hood,
Texas and Fort Knox, Kentucky.

On November
20, 1943, he married Rosella Bonzelet in Killeen, Texas.

After
returning to Wisconsin, he farmed for two years. Then he worked at Henkle
Motors, followed by Giddings & Lewis.

He was a
member of Holy Family Parish (Sacred Heart), the FDL Yacht Club, Outboard
Boating Club (Commodore), FDL County Historical Society and Wisconsin Steam
Antique Engine Club. Additionally, he was a member of the Hammond Organ Society
and piloted his own plane for many years.

Survivors
include his wife of 72 years, Rosella; brothers, Merlin Mayer, Tony (Connie)
Mayer; sister, Rosaleen Hutter; step-sister, Roxanne (John) Straub;
brothers-in-law, Leo (Esther) Bonzelet, Jim (Jan) Hayes; sister-in-law, Delores
Mayer and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Preceding
him in death were brother, Richard Mayer; sister, Kathleen Hayes;
sisters-in-law, Mary Abel, Leona Bonzelet, Frances Kohlbeck and Ione Mayer;
brothers-in-law, George Abel, John Bonzelet, Jospeh Bonzelet, Bob Hutter and
Virgil Kohlbeck.

Visitation:
Daniel’s family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at
Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM.

Service: A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, following visitation, at 12:00 PM. Entombment
will take place in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
