David L. Case

David L. Case, 83, of South Lake Tahoe, California, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

He was born on October 13, 1930, in Fond du Lac, a son of Leon and Mae Seyfert Case.

Growing up, he lived in Rio, Columbus, Ashland and Northern Wisconsin, and he enjoyed visiting family and spending time in South Byron, Oakfield, and Brownsville.

David was confirmed in 1943 at the Congregational Church, Rio.  He graduated in 1952, from Ondossagon High School, Bayfield County, Wisconsin.  He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, in 1952.  He went on to receive his master’s degree from Long Beach State and his administrative credential from the University of California, Sacramento.

He served in the United States Navy.

On December 27, 1953, he married Dorothy M. Trewin in Tarzana, California.

David taught middle school and high school math for many years until his retirement.   He taught in Garden Grove, California, Saudi Arabia, and South Lake Tahoe (which he respected and loved).

He is survived by two brothers-in-law, John Trewin and Gilbert (Ann) Trewin; nieces and nephews; special cousins: Ruth, June, and Dean Case; close friends: Herman and Mercy Marty, Dave Miller, John and Judi Ahern, and Robert “Robie” Roberson; and his friends on Egret Street.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, on July 19, 2001; a brother-in-law, Robert (Sylvia) Trewin; and a sister-in-law, Mary Trewin.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating.

The visitation will be on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.
