Dawn P. Klein

It is with great sadness and comfort that we share this news to you; on May 11, 2017, our Mother, Dawn Klein, went home to the Lord after she suffered a brain injury from a fall on ice in February. She died with grace and dignity at St. Paul Elder Home in Kaukauna at the age of 81.

She had many passions in life that we are so proud of her for: her family and her faith. Her art and flower gardens, and of course her beloved Arabian Horses.

With her creative soul and talent, she produced some of the most beautiful art work of ours and the Arabian Horse World. Dawn was a self-taught artist who worked in Bronze Sculpture, Copper Wire Sculpture, Oil Paintings and Pastels. Her first Bronze “Spirits Grace” was chosen to top the Richard LEadley (a most respected trainer of the Arabian Horse) perpetual Memorial Trophy. Her work is in private collections throughout the United States, South America, Poland, Germany and Egypt. This is something we, as a family, were truly proud of her for.

She created gorgeous flower gardens along the rock ledges of the family home and carried that creativity into the home as well.

Although Dawn was so very passionate about her art, faith and family always came first. Dawn and her husband, Jim, raised 5 children on their 21 acre farmette just north of Stockbridge. Only once the kids were old enough did she feel she had the time to pursue her art at a higher level. And when the time came where family needed her again, that’s what she did: took care of family. When her husband, Jim, was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease, she cared for him for many years until he went to the Lord. And when her sons, Brett & Jeff, were also diagnosed with the same awful disease, she took care of them until she reached an age where she physically couldn’t.

Her faith in God was so important to her; it helped carry her through such horrific tragedies in life that her faith only grew stronger. Her love for the Lord was never ending.

Dawn is survived by her children: Dan (Sherry) Klein of Stockbridge, Mike (Debbie) Klein of Chilton, Shari (Doug) Daun of Chilton; 7 grandchildren: Brooke, Heather, Michael, Brittany, Adam, Whitney & Eric; 4 great grandchildren: Kennedie, Audrina, Nolan & Emma; and her siblings: Dave (Gretchyn) Weisgerber, Dan (Judy) Weisgerber, Sally Weisgerber, Mary (Tim) Van Harpen & Linda Weisberber. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Jim; her sons: Jeffrey & Brett; and a brother: Richard Weisgerber.

Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
