Dolores Jeanette Kath

Dolores Jeanette Kath (nee Meyer) was known by family and friends for her love of camping, bingo, family genealogy and brandy old-fashioneds.

 

She died on Saturday, May 25th, 2013, surrounded by her family at her home in Fond du Lac.

 

Also known as “The Great One” and “Nini,” Dolores was born on March 26, 1930 in Milwaukee, the 7th child of Albert M. Meyer and Alice E. Meyer (nee Nelsen). Dolores was a 1948 graduate of Messmer High School in Milwaukee. She married the love of her life, Thomas Albert Kath Sr. on June 12, 1954. They spent their early married life living in various U.S. cities, including Milwaukee, San Francisco and Pittsburg before settling in Fond du Lac. He affectionately called her “my doll.” They were married for 47 years until his death in 2001.

 

Dolores is survived by her five children: Paula Paul, Leslie (Gregor) Nigh, Barbara (Stephen) Tremel, Lynne (Thomas) Cardinal and Thomas A. Jr. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren: Jimmy, Jenny (Jason Streblow) and Amy (Curt Freund) Burgess and Stacy Hoffman, David (Lisa) Nigh, Becky (Joseph) Meyers, Stephanie (Travis) Hagen, Erin (Andrew) Besaw, Alex Tremel, Allison (Tom) Mueller, Kathryn (Rusty) Hoppe, Ben and Abigail Cardinal. She also had 13 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Ethan, Cameron, Haley, Ryne, Taylor, Carter, Eliana, Anna, Lou, Alorah, Faith and Gabriella.

 

Dolores was further survived by other loving family members: her sisters Elizabeth [Betty] Redlin and Alice Kantin, sisters-in-law Shirley and Phyllis Meyer and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings George Meyer, Shannie Cluberton, Helen (Henry) Schmidt, Wally Meyer, Norb Meyer, Al Meyer, Eileen (Elmer) Karnofsky and Paula Meyer. Her late in-laws include William and Hedwig Kath, Harvey and Betty Dilger and Eileen and Llano Smith.

 

The family also extends thanks to special friends Mary Hieptas, Sr. Jean Braun, Karen Seichter, and Darlene Wischneski and to Hospice Hope.

 

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 29th at 11:00 AM, at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac. Visitation will precede the mass, starting at 9:00 AM.
