Doris Marie Gilles

Doris Marie Gilles, 89, a resident of Fond du Lac, passed
away July 13, 2015 at the St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac.

She was born February 20, 1926 in Milwaukee a daughter of
the late Howard and Antoinette Unold Curler.

On February 18, 1950 she married Thomas E. Gilles in
Milwaukee, WI.

Doris along with her husband Thomas founded Gilles Frozen
Custard Drive-In, in 1949, and she served as secretary/treasurer prior to her
retirement in 1992. She was a member and volunteer of Holy Family Parish,  a charter member of South Hills C.C., active
in SIGMA, Loaves and Fishes, Mobile Meals, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and
B.P.O.E. #57 Ladies Auxiliary.

As a mother of five, Doris was always active in her
children’s lives, in the classrooms, as a Little League Coach, on the playground
and whenever possible, all while helping at the drive-in. Doris enjoyed golf,
needlepoint, reading and was a savvy Bridge player. 

Survivors include her loving husband, Tom; two sons, John
(Jan) Gilles of Green Bay, Jim (Gwen) Gilles; three daughters, Mary (Greg) Guenther,
Joanne (Bill) Thereyl and Chris (Chris) Holmes all of Fond du Lac; five
grandchildren, Angie (Aaron) Roden, Ryan (Katie) Gilles, Molly Gilles, Nicholas
and Jacob Holmes; two step-grandchildren, Julie and Tyler Theyerl;  five great-grandchildren, Henry and George
Gilles, Olivia, Abigail and Eli Roden. She is further survived by a
sister-in-law, Val Curler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and
Gilbert Curler; a brother-in-law, Paul (Faye) Gilles; and two sisters-in-law,
Mary (Roy) Coldagelli and Margaret (Bob) Marion.

Visitation: Family will receive relative and
friends on Friday July 17, 2015 at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division
Street, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. There will be no visitation on Saturday.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday July 18, 2015 at Holy Family Parish Church,
271 Fourth Street Way. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of the Risen Christ
Mausoleum, Calvary Mausoleum, Fond du Lac.

Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Mary’s Springs
Academy Gilles Scholarship Fund, Holy Family Parish or Agnesian Hospice Hope
Program.
