Dorothy Amelia Salter

Dorothy Amelia Salter’s lifelong passion to work ended at age 92 when the Lord called her home.

Her working career began at an early age with Rueping Leather Company in Fond du Lac.  She was later employed by Tolibia Cheese Company, retiring from Tolibia at age 62.  She continued working after retirement cleaning homes and businesses within the Fond du Lac area, including Peer Technical (managed by Betty Fritch), Dr. Tim McBride’s dental practice, and the Combined Building.  This gave her the opportunity to continue doing what she sincerely loved, working and being active.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Luther Memorial Church, Fond du Lac, from the time it was established.  With the Christian love and support of the congregation, she was able to keep attending services where she heard of the forgiveness of sins and gift of eternal life through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She married Walter Schultz, who preceded her in death in 1954.  She later married Arthur Salter, who preceded her in death in 1962.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mauvina and Frederick Sattler Dunisch; her sister, Mildred Zupke; her brother-in-law, Millard Zupke; her brother, Gerald Dunisch; and stepsons: Daniel Salter and Neal Salter.

She is survived by a son, Stephen (Elizabeth) Salter of West Columbia, South Carolina; her grandchildren:  Aaron Salter and Jessica Salter; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Dunisch; her stepdaughters-in-law:  Shirley Salter and Mary Ann Salter; and other extended family members.

To her many long-time neighbors, friends, and relatives, thank you for being there for Dorothy throughout the years.  To Lisa McBride, your friendship, care, and assistance to Dorothy throughout the years has been a blessing for which we are forever grateful.

Finally, to St. Francis Home and the many hospice workers, which included relatives and friends, who attended to Dorothy, may God bless you for your caring efforts and the important service you provide.
