Dorothy Mangan

Dorothy
Mangan, 98, Matriarch of the Mangan family, passed away peacefully surrounded
by family on August 13, 2017. Dorothy was born in Fond du Lac on July 14, 1919,
the daughter of Albert and Eleanor Haessley.


Dorothy was
employed at Bell telephone as an operator until her marriage to Gordon “Irish”
Mangan in 1953. With Gordon’s young daughters Colleen, Patricia, Carol and
Mickey, Dorothy and Gordon moved to Fond du Lac and started Irish’s Bar in
1954.


After
Gordon’s passing in 1975, Dorothy and her son, Pat ran the business. At the age
of 90, Dorothy retired and passed on her famous St. Patrick’s Day “Mulligan
Stew” recipe to the next generations of Mangans.


Survivors of
the Mangan Clan include children Colleen of Milwaukee; Patricia of Orlando, FL
and her children Timothy, Daniel, Kelly, Patty, Shannon and Molly; Carol (Fred)
of Racine and her children Sherry, Patrick and Kimberly; Mickey (George) of
Palm Coast, FL and their children Heather, George, Mark, Erin and Adam; Patrick
(Mary) of Fond du Lac and their daughter Murphy (Kyle); Mary “Cook” (Rick) of
Fond du Lac and her children Breyn (Todd), Casey (Brianna) and Maggie (Dominic);
Faith (Mike) of Fond du Lac. Dorothy is also survived by many great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


Dorothy was
preceded in death by her husband Gordon, her son-in-law Dennis Mayhew and her
sister Bernice Konen.


Visitation:
Dorothy’s family will greet relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, 200 S. Peters Ave., Fond du Lac, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM on Thursday,
August 17, 2017.


Service: A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation on Thursday at
1:00 PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of Dorothy’s life
will be held at Irish’s Bar following the services.
