Dorothy May Vogtli

 

Dorothy May Vogtli passed away with family by her side on
April 9, 2015.  She was residing at St.
Francis Nursing Home in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. 
She went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 94.  She was born on August 4, 1920 to Ray and
Etta Vogtli in Gowanda, New York. 
Dorothy was a graduate of the Gowanda High School class of 1939.  In her many years living in Gowanda, she was
an active member of the community and especially enjoyed working with the
Republican Party.  Before leaving the
area to move south, she was part owner and manager of the Palm Gardens
motel/restaurant.

 

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents;  brother Lee; 
twin brother Donald; sister-in-law Polly Vogtli ;  sister-in-law Jean Vogtli;   daughter Sonya Spittler;  and 
companion William Mentley.  She is
survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joy and Dan Egan, son-in-law Thomas
Spittler, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews,
other family and friends.

 

Dorothy rescued many dogs over the years and loved each one
dearly.  Her eyes would light up when the
“visiting dogs” at St. Francis came calling.

As requested, her ashes will be taken to Jekyll Island, GA,
an area she referred to as her “little piece of heaven on earth.”
