Edward J. Dempsey Jr.

Edward Joseph Dempsey, Jr., 77,
of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at St. Agnes Hospital, with his
family by his side.

 

He was born on July 15, 1939,
in Fond du Lac, a son of Edward Sr. and Vi Erke Dempsey. 

 

The oldest of five children,
Edward graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School. During his high school years,
Edward had a passion for boxing and baseball. 
He held titles as a Golden Gloves Boxer. 
He was also proud to say he tried out for the Cincinnati Reds baseball
team.  He loved to go on hunting trips to
Canada with his good friends. 

 

In 1960, Edward married his
high school sweetheart, Mary Beth O’Hearn.

 

Edward was a roofer all his
life, working for Concrete Products and Jerry Tighe Roofing, until going into
business for himself.

 

Years later, Edward moved to
Eagle River to continue working, until his retirement in 2002.  He then moved back to Fond du Lac to be with
his family.

 

He is survived by two sons:  Kevin Dempsey of Fond du Lac and Dennis
Dempsey of Fond du Lac; two daughters: Megan (Jack) Dempsey of Oshkosh and Mary
(Joe) Dempsey of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren:  Andrea (Christopher) Wiltzius of Madison,
Hannah Dempsey of Eagle River, Anthony (Tiffany) Nummerdor of Fond du Lac,
Amanda (Jovan) Nummerdor of Fond du Lac, and Andrew (Indigo) Nummerdor of
Oshkosh; three great-grandchildren: 
Bella, Arianna, and August; three brothers:  Richard (Mary) Dempsey of Mt. Calvary, Robert
(Nancy) Dempsey of Fond du Lac, and John Dempsey of North Fond du Lac; and many
nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by
his parents; three sons:  Michael,
Patrick, and Brian; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Mary Beth O’Hearn;
a sister, Marilyn Dempsey; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Dempsey.

 

The family would like to
thank the staff at Harbor Haven for the great care they gave to Edward during
his stay there.

 

VISITATION:  The visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31
East Division Street, Fond du Lac.

 

SERVICE:  The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
on Friday at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory with Rev. Rom Pegram officiating.

 

Cremation will follow
traditional services.
