God saw that you were tired and said, Liz come with me home to your eternal kingdom. Elizabeth M. Schmitz, age 80, died peacefully at Homestead Care Center on Monday, January 5, 2015. She was born April 2, 1934, the daughter of the late Martin and Minnie (Sanderfoot) Van Deraa.
She married Renae Ott on September 6, 1952. She then married Paul Reichard on July 4, 1982. Paul preceded her in death on October 16, 1990. She then married John Schmitz, Jr. on August 27, 1995.
Elizabeth worked several jobs over the years including Techumseh, the Larson Canning Factory and also provided home health care for several area residents, which was her true passion in life. She was always a caring person who loved everyone in which she came in contact with. Her pride and joy was always her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She adored each and every one of them. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Rose Ann and her husband Don. They traveled to many different places and always enjoyed seeing the different areas of the country. Liz also had a strong belief in angels and always expressed her faith that angels do exist.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband John. She is also survived by her children, Becky Borseth (special friend Jerry) Brillion; Tim Ott (special friend Jackie) Sibley, Iowa; Terry Ott (special friend Char) Little Chute; Kerry Ott Forest Junction; Lori (Ron Touketto) Chilton; Tracy (Sheila) Ott Chilton; and Kelly (Brenda) Ott Reedsville. She is further survived by grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Grube and their children Hailey and Austin Chilton; Heather (special friend Jason) and her children Abbigail, Easton and Ashton Brillion; Jeremy Ott and his children Cassie, Cameron and Carter Hilbert; Heidi Ott (special friend Alvin) and her children Hunter and Jasmine Hilbert; Gerry (Shanna) Ott and their children Marie Rae, Daymein and Cara Brillion; Berry Ott Forest Junction; Melissa (Dennis DuPrey) and their children Madalyn and Brynn Hilbert; Matt (Krista) Hardrath and their children Alexis and Claire Chilton; Tim Hardrath Waupun; Anthony (Michelle) Touketto and their children Katie Sean, Arianna and Sophia Indiana; Kimberly Touketto Chicago, Illinois; Alexander Touketto Chilton; Mike (Terri) Moehr and their children Kalie, Jordan, Madison, Ashlyn and Xander Reedsville; Sarah Ott Milwaukee; Tony (Amanda) Zipperer and their child Savannah Chilton; Heather Zipperer Chilton; Chris Zipperer Chilton; Jerry Ott Reedsville; Kellie Jo, Josette and Brenton all of Reedsville. She is also survived by siblings Judy (Marvin) VandeVoort Malone; Barb (Randy) Moehr Crivitz; Rose Ann (Don) Huben Oneida; Jerry (Jeanne) Van Deraa Fond du Lac; Jerome (Lorraine) Van Deraa Stockbridge; and sister in laws, Phyllis, Theresa, Joyce and Leona, all of Kaukauna. She is also survived by many other family and friends.
Elizabeth was also preceded in death by brothers Donnie, Martin, Marvin and Jim and an infant sister Barbara Ann, daughter in law Debbie Ott and two nephews, Dean Wilson and Darryl Van Deraa.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm n Wednesday, January 7, 2015 and on Thursday at the church from 10:30 am until 11:15. A parish vigil service will take place Wednesday night at the funeral home at 7:00 pm.
The family would like to thank Homestead Care Center and Heartland Hospice for all of their special care given to Liz. The family would also like to especially thank Dorreen Nisleit and Judy VandeVoort for their many visits and reading stories to her especially near the end of her life. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in her name.
