Ellen Jean Lavey

Ellen Jean Lavey, 87, of Fond du Lac, died on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee.  Ellen is the wife of DuWayne J. Lavey and mother to Tom, Tim, Todd and Tyler Lavey.

Ellen was born at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac on July 24, 1926.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Alta (Porter) and Leo Gerhartz, and two brothers, Roland Gerhartz and Chuck Gerhartz.

She is survived by her husband DuWayne of Fond du Lac, sons and daughters-in-law, Tom (Barbara) of Fort Myers, FL, Tim (Pennie) of Orlando, FL, Todd (Julie) of Fond du Lac and Tyler, of Fond du Lac.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Jacob Lavey (Laura), Kristin Jordan (Eric), Colin Lavey (Kathryn), Sydney, Nicole, Tayler and Jamie Lavey.

Also surviving Ellen are her two sister, Ginney (Wayne) Mayer and Joan (Len) Joas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Ellen and DuWayne, raising 4 boys found traveling by motorhome was the most enjoyable way to have the whole family involved in either camping or boating.  Upon retiring, Ellen and DuWayne wintered in Orlando, FL, from where she was able to stay in contact with her continually growing family.  Ellen’s impact on the lives of her family and friends will be sadly missed.

A private Memorial Service will be celebrated at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac. 

Memorials in her name may be directed to Holy Family Parish, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, 54937.

The family wishes to thank the health care community, doctors, nurses and staff of St. Agnes Hospital, St. Francis Rehab Center and Froedtert Memorial Hospital SICU for their effort, care, concern and expertise during Ellen’s time with them.
