Erna Schroeder Keip

Erna Schroeder Keip, 91, of 609 Broadway Street, Berlin, was called to be with her Savior

on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Berlin Hospital.  Prior to moving to Berlin in 2009, to be close to her daughter, she lived in Fond du Lac most of her life.

 

She was born on September 7, 1921, in Germany, a daughter of Frederick and Augusta Krause                                                            Bastian.  She came to the United States with her parents in 1922. 

 

Erna graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1939. 

 

On April 25, 1942, she married Farrell A. Schroeder at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church,

Fond du Lac.  He preceded her in death on April 5, 1985.  On May 9, 1987, she married Walter “Speedy” E. Keip, he preceded her in death on November 22, 2000.

 

Erna was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.  She worked at Infant Socks from 1939-1946.

 

She is survived by three grandchildren:  Jackie (Ed) Braatz of Eden and their children, Steven and Heather, Kenneth (Angie) Krug of St. Peter and their children, Caden, Keegan, and Kloey, and Robert (Erin) Krug of Milwaukee and their children, Jonah and Nora; and two step-grandchildren:  Renee Reimer of Green Bay, and Dan (Macarey) Reimer of Madison; a brother-in-law, Gordon Jacobs; a niece and three nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her daughter, Darlene Reimer; a brother, Henry (Nelda) Bastian; a sister, Dorothy Jacobs and her first husband, John Strizek; and a nephew, Gene Strizek.

 

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating.   The burial will be at 8:30 a.m. on Friday in Ledgeview Memorial Park.

 

The visitation will be on Thursday at church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
