Eugene F. VanDallwyk

Eugene F. “Butch” VanDaalwyk, age 84 of Hilbert died on November 2, 2016 at the Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton. He was born August 16, 1932 in Kimberly, son of the late Martin & Mary (Kroiss) VanDaalwyk. He married Mary Jane Wieseckel on May 29, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. The couple farmed together until retirement in 1988 when their son Bob, took over the family farm. He enjoyed working on the family farm, driving tractor, working the land and being greeted by Muffin, his beloved cookie dog.



He was a member of St. John Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St John. He was active in the Farm Bureau, Catholic Knights, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Foresters, Men’s Club and participated in church ushering and sang in the adult choir.



Butch was a wonderful husband and father. He was known for his knack of listening and wisdom of when to talk. He was a support for many and took great pleasure in spending time with grandchildren, fishing, woodworking and playing Sheepshead with neighbors and friends.



Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane, his children: Cindy (Chuck) Ott, Jean (Jim) Schaefer, Debbie (Tom) Porter, Lynn (Mike) Fox and Bob (special friend Brenda Schmitt); 11 grandchildren: Doug (Becky) Ott, Melanie Schaefer, Mark (Jennifer) Schaefer, Mitchell (Amanda) Schaefer, Lance (Carmen) Busse, Grant Busse, Neil Busse, Austin Gates, Brett VanDaalwyk, Anna VanDaalwyk and Blake VanDaalwyk. 6 great grandchildren: Jenna Ott, Allison Schaefer, Clay Schaefer, Levi Schaefer, Weston Busse and Carson Busse: 5 step grandchildren, 1 sister: Shirley (Max) VanGrinsven, sister-in-law: Cecilia VanDaalwyk, and a brother-in-law Larry (Mardella) Wieseckel.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws: Clem & Dorothy Wieseckel; sisters: Mary Jane (Bob) Phillips, Elaine Popp; brother: James VanDaalwyk; brothers-in-law: Eugene (Agnes) Wieseckel, Clarence (Winnifred) Wieseckel; daughter-in-law: Paula VanDaalwyk and an infant grandson: Ryan Ott.



The family would like to thank their many relatives and friends for the prayers and support offered to Butch and Mary Jane. Special thanks to the entire staff of the Atrium Post Acute Care, of Chilton, Calumet County Hospice, and Calumet Medical Center for the loving care they provided to our entire family and to Butch. You treated him as though he was your very own. Your kindness will never be forgotten.



Funeral service for Butch will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St John Sacred Heart Church in St John, WI with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00am.
