Frank E. Nelson

Frank E. Nelson, of Fond du Lac, passed away October 12, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.  His suffering with cancer and kidney disease came to an end.

He was born on November 9, 1938, to Ervin and Harriet Baker Nelson.

On January 20, 1962, he married ViAnne K. Howell.

  

After high school he served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.  While there, he attended Cook and Bake school, which later become his profession.  Frank worked at Taycheedah Correctional Institution from 1965 until his retirement in 1996 as Food Service Administrator.  Frank was employed by Kremer Pharmacy part-time, after his retirement, where he enjoyed making many new friends and working with all the wonderful employees there, and of course, Bobee, the French bull dog.

   

Frank enjoyed watching any sport, especially football, family get-togethers, such as the yearly reunion in Wisconsin Dells and the Fourth of July celebration at the family cottage.  

Frank and ViAnne enjoyed many vacations, but Las Vegas was one of their favorite destinations, always staying at the Golden Nugget.  


He is survived by the love of his life, after 51 years of marriage, ViAnne.  They have three children: Teah (Ted) Kitzman, Wendy (Russ) Ryan, and Frank (Julie) Nelson; a brother, Ed (Nancy) Nelson; a brother-in-law, Vernie Richmond; nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Josh, and Jamie Preston, Katie Kitzman, Jeremy, Emily, and Hannah Ryan, and twins, Thane and Taylor Nelson; four step-grandchildren: Ceclia (RJ) Brown,Cory, Andrea, and Evan Grosskopf; one great step-grandson, Niles Brown; two brothers-in-law: Richard Howell, and Royce (Charmaine) Howell; a sister-in-law, Sharon Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; two sisters; a brother-in-law; and his mother and father-in-law.

Frank will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends.  . 

When asked how he was, his favorite saying was, “finer than frog hair”.   

A celebration of life will be held between noon and 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at The Eagles Club, 515 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac.
