Gladys A. Koll

Gladys A. Koll, nee, Lemke, age 91, of Chilton, died on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. She was born April 3, 1923 in the Town of Rantoul, daughter of the late Arthur & Anna (Papke) Lemke. Gladys was a licensed cheese maker in the State of Wisconsin and operated a farmer’s cheese production operation until she was united in marriage to Frank Koll on January 30, 1954 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in St. Theresa, WI. It was then that the couple farmed together on the farm Frank owned and operated. Gladys also worked at the Kint Lumber Company in Lomira until she retired in her 70’s. Gladys was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton where she frequently attended worship services with her brother. She will be remembered by her family as a meticulous flower gardener and a wonderful cook. She especially looked forward to holidays, and special times when friends and family could be together to enjoy each others company, play Sheepshead, and savor the delicious home cooked meal prepared by her hands. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Frank, and her sister Jeanette, throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Survivors include her brother: Merlin Lemke of Chilton and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Frank; 2 sisters: Angeline (Harry) Sturtz, Jeanette (Hubert) Karl; a brother: Wilmer (Isabelle) Lemke; and a sister-in-law: Bert Lemke. Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with the Rev. Jon Christensen officiating.
