Gordon A. Worm

Gordon A. Worm, 93, a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, at ManorCare Health Services after a long, happy life spent with his loving family and countless friends.

He was born on January 2, 1923, in Fond du Lac, to Fred and Ruby Munthe Worm.


Gordon graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School, Class of 1940, served with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1941 to 1945, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of  Pharmacy in 1948.


He married Bette McCoy, the love of his life, on July 24, 1948, at Division Street Methodist Church.

Gordon owned Dana & Worm Pharmacy in Fond du Lac for 45 years and had a passion for giving back to his community. He served as the State President of Wisconsin Pharmacy Association, 1984-1985. Gordon was also a proud member of Elks Lodge #57, Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis Club, Fond du Lac Lodge #26 Free & Accepted Masons, Fond du Lac Shrine Club, Tripoli Shrine Milwaukee, Toastmasters, and served on the board of the Fond du Lac Humane Society. On September 11, 2014, he went on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., accompanied by his son, Jeff.


Gordon was a man of many hobbies: camping, hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, woodworking, playing cards, painting, and traveling. He instilled a lasting appreciation of the outdoors in his children and grandchildren. Gordon was an exceptionally kind, generous man whose love and friendship will be cherished by all those who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife, Bette; his children: Chris Worm of Fond du Lac, Jackie (Pete) Zoellner of Marshfield, Jeff (Darleen) Worm of Fond du Lac, and Joe (Deanna) Worm of Wrenshall, Minnesota; his grandchildren: Amanda Zoellner (Bryan Fink) of San Jose, California, Andrew Zoellner (Jill Kittock) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Emily Worm of Kansas City, Kansas, and Rachel Worm of St. Paul, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Beryl Worm of Battle Creek, Michigan; and two brothers-in-law:  Phillip Trampe of Brookfield and Tim (Joan) McCoy of Fond du Lac.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Worm; and a sister, Audrey Trampe.


VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICE:  The family will greet family and friends from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 North Marr Street, Fond du Lac. The memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Min Chea officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Worm Family plot in Rienzi Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Trier-Puddy American Legion Post 75.
