Gudrun “Gudie” Kenyon

Gudrun “Gudie” Kenyon, 85, of Oakfield, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Touchstone Living Center in North Fond du Lac. She was born April 30, 1930 in Norseland, MN, the daughter of Gustav and Olga Lokensgard Annexstad. Gudie was baptized and confirmed at Norseland Lutheran Church, a 1948 graduate of Bethany Lutheran High School in Mankato, MN, and received her teaching degree from Bethany Lutheran College in 1950. She taught school for 2 years prior to her marriage. On September 6, 1952 she married David S. Kenyon at Norseland Lutheran Church. She lived in Oakfield all her married life and was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, and sang in the church choir and the Joyful Witness Choir for many years. Gudie was also active in the community, past president of the Oakfield Library Board, volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Drives, and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed music, theatre, traveling, and had a great sense of style. Gudie was a wonderful homemaker and loved cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. 



She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, David; three children, David (Betsy) Kenyon of Elm Grove, Tom Kenyon of Eau Claire, and Carol (Todd) Dekker of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren, Kirsten (Justin) Nichols, David (Angelita) Kenyon, Allison Martinez, Ian Kenyon, Anna Kenyon, John (Annie) Dekker, Hannah Dekker, and Sam Dekker; three great grandchildren, Gudrun and Sigrid Nichols, and Azalea Kenyon. She is further survived by one brother, Glenn (Hope) Annexstad of St. Peter, MN; two sisters-in-law, Lois Annexstad of St. Peter, MN and Marie Rosenfeldt of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, David and Dorothy Kenyon; two brothers, Maurice Annexstad and Carl Annexstad; two sisters, Clara (Emmett) Norrell and Borghild Annexstad; two brothers-in-law, John Kenyon and William Rosenfeldt.



The visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:30 am on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 245 Second Street, Oakfield. 

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Christopher Goelzer officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Cemetery.



Memorials in Gudrun’s name may be directed to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Oakfield Public Library, or Bethany Lutheran College.



The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Touchstone Living Center for their care and compassion given to Gudrun and her family over the last years.
