James A. Nadler

After a long and happy life James A. Nadler passed away February 8, 2018. James (Jim) was born May 23, 1939, in Chilton, WI, to Emanuel and Lorine (Wagner) Nadler.  Jim and Mary Ellen (Pawelski) Nadler were married June 3, 1961 at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Stockbridge, WI. Beloved husband and best friends, Jim and Mary Ellen enjoyed 56 ½ wonderful years of marriage.

Jim was employed at Mirro Foley for 43 years as a millwright and member of Wisconsin Board of Examining Engineers until his retirement in 2000.  After retirement Jim and Mary Ellen had many fun trips up to the “Cabin.” Jim enjoyed being surrounded by his children and grandchildren for deer hunting season and especially looked forward to sturgeon spearing season on Lake Winnebago. Jim learned the craft of sturgeon spear making from his father Emanuel and Grandfather Tony. Being a 3rd generation spear maker he refined his skills and hand crafted spears with flying beards.  He was thrilled to be featured in “People of the Sturgeon” in his workshop with his spears. Grandpa Jim was especially proud of his “Grand-Girls” who each have a spear to remember him by. He also lovingly crafted “Goldie’s” and decoys for each of his children and grandchildren.

Jim and Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling and had many happy times taking their family summertime trips across the US and Canada. They found great enjoyment in showing Jim’s vintage Moto Ski snowmobile, and going to shows with Tim and Chris.

Jim was a member of the Stockbridge Harbor fishing club. He was a longtime volunteer at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church and Calumet County meal site.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen, children, Tim (Chris) Nadler, Scott (Lynda) Nadler and Jamie Sue (David) Hodgson. His beloved granddaughters, Sonya (Joe Bauer), Katrina, Nicole (fiancée Peter McHugh) and Kelsey (Steven Hoerth). His brother, Don (Edna) Nadler, sister, Darlene Nadler (special friend Michael Ortlieb). Further survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, god-children, cousins and friends.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents Emanuel and Lorine Nadler and his in-laws, John and Sedonia Pawelski.

The funeral liturgy for Jim will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 201 Military Road, Stockbridge, with Father Michael Bentley officiating.  Friends may call at St. Mary of Seven Dolors from 9:00 am until 10:45 am on the day of the service.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Stockbridge First Responders, Ascension Calumet Ambulance Staff, Paramedics and Ascension Hospital Staff for your professionalism and compassion.  Thank you to Deacon Dennis Bennin for leading us spiritually through prayer. Dearest husband, father and Grandpa, God bless you and grant you eternal life. Farewell my love, ME.
