James “Harold” Rens

James “Harold” Rens, 98, of
Waupun, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at The Christian Home and
Rehabilitation Center in Waupun.

 

Harold was born August 1,
1916 in the town of Metomen in Fond du Lac County, the son of Aldert and
Cynthia Vanden Berg Rens.

 

On June 3, 1941 he married
Wilma Loomans in Alto. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Brandon until 1972 at
which time they moved to Waupun. Harold then worked for Farmer’s Elevator in
Waupun for 10 years. Following his retirement, Harold worked for a car wash in
Waupun in which he enjoyed meeting and conversing with the customers. He was a
member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon where he served as Elder and
Deacon.

 

Harold is survived by two
sons: Orville Rens of Waupun and Larry (Betty) Rens of Brandon; a daughter, Shirley
(Philip) Rasmussen of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
four step-great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a
step-great-great grandchild; two sisters: Esther Kamphuis of Waupun and Helen
(Lloyd) Hartgerink of Waupun; a brother-in-law, Wayne Tank of Brandon; a
sister-in-law, Mary Rens of Waupun; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Harold was preceded in death
by his wife, Wilma on January 4, 2005; two brothers, George Rens and Gordon
“Bob” Rens; and two sisters, Angeline Tavs and Audrey Tank.

 

Funeral services for Harold
Rens will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Reformed
Church in Brandon with Rev. John Tilstra officiating. Burial will follow at
Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives of Harold Rens may call on the family on
Monday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4:30-7:00 p.m. and on
Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
