Joan C. Lemke

Joan C. Lemke, 84, of Fond du Lac died Wed. Jan, 4, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. She was born on Jan. 10, 1932 in Fond du Lac the daughter of Thomas and Adelaide (nee Schumacher) Rodden. 



She married William “Bill” Lemke on Oct. 8, 1955 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Joan worked in the office at Fred Rueping Leather Company and then at Schreiner’s Restaurant as a hostess until retiring. 



She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, baking, cooking and was an excellent knitter. Joan loved to watch old movies and mysteries on PBS. She also enjoyed reading mostly mystery novels. 



She had a great enjoyment of music and sang and harmonized with her sisters in her younger years. 



Her trips to Door County with her sisters were always very special to her. 



Joan was a wonderful wife and mother; a fiercely independent woman; a very loving and selfless woman who will be missed by all. 



Survivors include her son Matthew Lemke of Fond du Lac, her daughter Julie (Gary) Beyer of Oshkosh, her brothers-in-law Lloyd (Betty) Lemke, David Pittl, Donald Munson, and Elwin “Sandy” Kalmerton and her sisters-in-law Marilyn Zoch and Diane Rodden, her nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. 



Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill on Jan. 6, 2016, her sisters Janet Munson, Mary Sheridan, Patricia Pothas and Margaret “Meg” Kalmerton, her brothers Edward Rodden and Thomas Rodden, her brothers-in-law Marvin Lemke, Wesley Lemke, Bob Georg, Jack Papenfuss and Gordon Zoch and her sisters-in-law Patricia Georg, LaVerne Papenfuss, Alice Pittl and Carol Lemke. 



No services will be held according to Joan’s wishes. 



Cremation will take place. 



The family extends a special thank you to the staffs of St. Agnes ER, ICU and 5 South and especially Polly Whealon and the Hospice Home of Hope for their care and concern shown Joan in her last days.
