John H. Lemke

John H. Lemke, age 76, of Chilton, died on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home. He was born August 2, 1938 in the Town of Rantoul, son of the late John F. & Elona (Biedenbender) Lemke. He married Doris Behnke on January 7, 1961 in Collins; she preceded him in death on October 6, 1994. He later married Floretta Johnson on June 21, 1997 at Good Shepherd in Two Rivers. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton and had worked for Mirro Foley in Chilton for 45 years. John was a jack-of-all-trades and could fabricate or fix anything placed in front of him. He was known well for his remodeling skills, electric work, and his meticulous yard with nary a leaf in sight. He also had a penchant for standing in his yard dreaming of ways to add landscaping or re-landscape existing areas. One of John’s other great passions was new and freshly polished vehicles; cars were one thing that really brought the youth out of him. John was always concerned about detail; this was of great benefit when helping Doris with ceramics, especially selecting and blending colors. Survivors include his wife: Floretta; a child: Jeff (Stephanie Schmidt) Lemke of Chilton; a step-child: Kim (Keith) Lazansky Philippi of Manitowoc; a grandchild: Courtney (Peter) Brennan; step-grandchildren: Benjamin, Brandon, & Zachary Schmidt; a sister: Marjorie (Rudolph) Boeder of Wayside; a brother: Charles (Virene) Lemke of Rantoul; and very dear friends: Ron & Lois Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Doris; a brother: Myron Lemke; a sister: Geraldine Lemke; and an infant sister. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with the Rev. Jon Christensen officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 until 12:45 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Memorials given in the name of John H. Lemke are appreciated. – See more at: http://www.wietingfuneralhome.com/obituaries/john-h-lemke/#sthash.KNXkSVSp.dpuf
