Joseph F. Thelen

Joseph F. Thelen, 87, of Campbellsport went to his heavenly home on Sat. March 15, 2014 at his home with his beloved family gathered around him. He was born Oct. 18, 1926 in the Town of Ashford the son of Michael and Flora (nee Bodden) Thelen. On Sept. 17, 1949, Joe married Mary Lou Steinacker at St. Martin’s Catholic in Ashford. He was the business partner for 30 years of Leo Janous operating Thelen and Janous Auto Body Repair. Joe was a member of the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department from 1951 through the present and served as Chief for 13 years. 



He is survived by his children Mike (Linda) Thelen of Fond du Lac, Gary (Jill) Thelen of Sheboygan, Linda (Joe) Petersen of Campbellsport and Lori (Bob) Russel of Campbellsport, fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, his sister Adela Baumhardt of Oshkosh, his brothers Norbert (Joyce) Thelen of West Bend and Tony (Helen) Thelen of Campbellsport, his brother-in-law Richy (Lucy) Steinacker of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 



Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Lou on May 12, 2009, his father and mother-in-law Hugo and Ella Steinacker, his sister Agnes (John) Burns, his brother-in-law Ivan Baumhardt, and his sisters-in-law Marjorie (James) Ketter and Gloria Steinacker. 



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat. March 22nd at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St. Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow in St. Matthews Cemetery. 



Visitation will be Friday March 21st from 4 to 8 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home 109 W. Main St. Campbellsport and on Sat. March 22nd from 9:30 AM until time of mass at the church.
