Lawrence F. Kohlman

Lawrence F.
Kohlman, 87, passed away peacefully at Hospice Home of Hope surrounded by his
family on January 23, 2018. He was born in Fond du Lac to Bernard and Gertrude
(Anders) Kohlman on October 1, 1930.  Larry
graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1949.


He served in
the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Larry was united in marriage to Bernice
Blonigen on October 3, 1953 in St. Cloud at St. Claudius Catholic Church.


Larry worked
at Mercury Marine for 41 years. He was a member and past president of I.A.M.A.W.
Lodge #1947 and a past president of the Quarter Century club. Larry was a
talented bowler and a member of the 1972 Fond du Lac Bowling Association All
Star Team and inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1989. He was the secretary of
the Arcade/Ledgeview City League for 31 years.


Larry
enjoyed playing baseball and was a member of the St. Cloud team in the East
Shore League and played many years with the Mercury softball team. He was also
a very active golf player. He ran the Mercury golf outings and played in their
weekly league.


Larry
developed a passion for woodworking and gardening after retirement. He loved
spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great
grandchildren.


Larry is
survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bernice; three children Terry (Chrys)
Kohlman, Therese Cleland and Gerard (Jean) Kohlman; five grandchildren Joshua
(Katherine) Kohlman, Jamie (Danielle) Cleland, Jessica (Jamie) Fritz, Jennifer
and Kayla Kohlman; six great grandchildren Knox, Morgyn, Lyric, Rylan, Jaxon
and Jace. He is further survived by his sister MaryAnn (Richard) Volz, his
sisters-in-law Patricia Kohlman and Lucille Lefeber, brothers-in-law Gerald
Blonigen and Darrel “Red” McArthur, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends.


Larry was
preceded in death by his infant son, Terrance, his parents, one aunt, Margaret
Anders and one brother, Donald Kohlman.


Visitation: Larry’s
family welcomes relatives and friends for a time of visitation at Zacherl
Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Sunday, January 28, 2018
from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and again on Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Merrill Ave., Fond du Lac, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.


Service: A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation on Monday,
January 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 AM.


In lieu of
flowers, memorials can be made in Larry’s name to Holy Family Parish.


The family
wishes to thank the staff at St. Agnes ICU and the staff and volunteers at
Hospice Home of Hope for the excellent care given to Larry.
