Lawrence W. Hammang

Lawrence
“Larry” W. Hammang, age 69, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on March 5,
2018 at Manor Care Health Services. He was born on October 3, 1948, the son of
Fred and Maxine (Knapstein) Hammang in New London, WI.


Larry was a
graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School in 1966 and the University of WI –
Oshkosh. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972, stationed in
England.


On July 30,
1994, Larry married Diane (Gilgenbach) Walgenbach. Larry was a substitute
teacher in the Fond du Lac area for many years.


A life-long
Democrat, Larry always enjoyed a lively political discussion. As an avid
Chicago Cubs fan, he finally got his wish “to see the Cubs win the World Series
in my lifetime.”


Larry is
survived by his wife, Diane, of Fond du Lac; stepchildren Philip (Julie)
Walgenbach, Amy Walgenbach and Ryan (Michelle Burton) Walgenbach, all of Fond
du Lac; siblings Gigi (Patrick) Nobel of Venice, FL and Christopher (Carol)
Hammang of Loveland, CO; nieces Lindsay Noble, Allison Noble and Natalie
Hammang; step grandchildren Hailey and Payton Walgenbach and Jake and Kayla
Walgenbach; and great nieces Dove and Juniper.


Larry was
preceded in death by his parents, brother David Hammang, sister Leslie Hammang
and Aunt Evelyn Wettstein.


Visitation:
Larry’s family welcomes relatives and friends for a time of visitation at
Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, on Thursday, March 15,
2018 from 10:00 to 11:45 AM.


Service: A
celebration of Larry’s life with military honors will be held following visitation
on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the funeral home at 12:00 PM. Cremation has
taken place.


A special

their kind, compassionate and professional care for Larry.
