Lorene E. Oldenburg

Lorene E. Oldenburg, 93, formerly
of East Pioneer Road,
Fond du Lac
, died Wednesday,
December 21, 2016, at Woodlands
Senior Park
.

 

She was born on July 25,
1923, in Fond du Lac,
a daughter of Herbert and Elsie Schwartz Sonnenberg.  Lorene graduated with honors from Fond du Lac Senior High School, Class of 1941.

 

On April 26, 1947, she
married John “Jack” Oldenburg at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.  He preceded her in death on July 10, 1992.

 

Lorene retired as an officer
from the National Exchange Bank & Trust in 1986, after 20 plus years of
service. She was state president of the National Secretaries Association.  She enjoyed gardening, bowling, traveling,
with her favorite place to visit, the Holyland. 
She loved spending time with her children and watching her grandchildren’s
activities.

 

Lorene was a lifetime member
of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran
Church
, where she
volunteered on various positions at the church and school, was the past
president of the Gleaners, and the historian for the church.

 

She is survived by three children:  Jean (Tom) Hanewall of Fond du Lac, David
(Diane) Oldenburg of Fond du Lac, and Karen (Jim) Jasensky of Sun Prairie; eleven
grandchildren:  Ross (Victoria) Oldenburg,
Drew (Ketti) Oldenburg, Brenton (Pam) Unferth, Tom Jr. (Sheila) Hanewall, Brian
(Jill) Oldenburg, Daniel (Lacey) Oldenburg, Jonathan Oldenburg, Nathan Oldenburg,
Sam (Jaima) Clavette, Ben (Angela) Clavette, and Adam Jasensky; 11
great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Ann Oldenburg; many nieces and a nephew.

 

She was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Jack; a son, Richard; two brothers:  Eugene and Marvin Sonnenberg.

 

VISITATION:  The visitation will be from 9:00 – 12:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church,
1600 South Main Street,
Fond du Lac
.

 

SERVICE:  The funeral service will be held at 12:00
p.m. on Tuesday at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran
Church
, with Rev. Michael
J. Zuberbier officiating.

 

Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
