Lucile “Lou” L. Stahmann

Lucile “Lou” L. Stahmann, 88,
formerly of Rosendale and a resident of Fond du Lac, died Monday, April 28,
2014 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on June 22, 1925 in Borth, WI the
daughter of Arthur and Lucinda Schmude Achterberg. On June 17, 1949 she married
Edwin R. Stahmann at Ripon. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1986. She was
a graduate of Ripon High School Class of 1943. She attended University of
Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in
Elementary Education. Lou taught in Fond du Lac rural schools from 1944 to 1961
and from 1961 to 1989 at Rosendale-Brandon School System. She was a member of
Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale. Lou was life member of the National Education
Association, and the Wisconsin Education Association. She was a member of the
Fond du Lac Retired Teachers Association, Fond du Lac Senior Center and the Red
Hat Society. She enjoyed her church, family, friends, art and the Dominos
Ladies. Lou never stopped teaching. She loved to travel and made it to all 50
states, the last being Alaska with her children on her 86th
birthday.

 

SURVIVORS: Lou is survived by
four children, Cheryl (Richard) Rabe, Fond du Lac, Marlene (Jim) Kelroy, Fond
du Lac, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Stahmann, Ramsey, Minnesota and Loralyn “Lorrie”
(James) Rieder, Fond du Lac, six grandchildren, Chad (Deanna) Rabe, Kristin
(Aaron) Kohlman, Brian (Dana) Kelroy, Kevin (Lainey) Kelroy, Jessa (fiancé
Kraig Finney) Stahmann, Andrew “A.J.” Stahmann, seven great grandchildren,
Tyler, Luke, and Zachary Rabe, Adeline and Ella Kohlman, Kian and Ava Kelroy
and one step-great-granddaughter Cassidy Kohlman. Lou is further survived by
one brother, Lyle (Elaine) Achterberg, Berlin, two sister-in-laws, Audrey Stahmann,
Rosendale, and Judy (Melvyn) Mikkola, Hancock, Michigan. She was preceded in
death by her parents, one son Michael Stahmann, one sister Eunice (Victor)
Haase, numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

 

VISITATION: Friends may call
on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church,
Rosendale. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Charles
Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials
appreciated in Lou’s name to Peace Lutheran Church, Agnesian Cancer Center or
the Fond du Lac Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund.

wonderful family, many wonderful neighbors and friends. I was also blessed for
all the school children that came into my life. My church was a great comfort
to me.

I’ve been a happy traveler-this being my final trip.”
