Margaret K. Kasper

Margaret K. Kasper, age 88, of Potter, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Brillion West Haven in Brillion. She was born April 3, 1928, daughter of the late Roy & Selma (Reichardt) Krueger. Margaret married Lester Kasper on June 3, 1950 at Rural United Methodist Church in Brillion.



Margaret cherished her faith and enjoyed being an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul where she was able to give of herself by volunteering with the Ladies Aid, and also serving with the Lutheran Women Missionary League, singing in the choir, and faithfully attending church services. She had also enjoyed the time she spent with the Rantoul Sunshine Homemaker’s Club for over 50 years.



Margaret endeavored to make people’s days brighter. She played piano and led in songs at the Chilton Care Center for over 20 years and volunteered as a 4H leader for many years helping children discover the joys 4H could bring. She had also taught in a one room school house in rural Brillion and later did substitute teaching, including at her beloved Trinity Lutheran School in Rantoul.



In her free time, Margaret honed her baking skills, even taking first place at the Calumet County Dairy Bakeoff in 1976 where she showcased her famous honey pumpkin cookies. Her family will also fondly remember her renowned homemade chicken noodle soup which was made from her beloved Watkins products and seasoning. She also loved time spent playing Scrabble, tending to her flower garden, and occasionally helping Lester deliver loads of lumber from Kasper Building Supply.



Survivors include her children: Jonathan (Marion) Kasper of Brillion, Katherine (Steven) Kornder of Pleasant Prairie, Mary (Marc) Stecker of Hilbert, David (Marilyn) Kasper of Hilbert, Elizabeth (Shane) Plath of Potter; her grandchildren: Amanda (Drew) Vance, Melissa (Brad) Mathes, Matthew (Katie) Kasper, Nicole Kornder and fiancé Don Olsen & Michelle Kornder and fiancé Tyler Youngquist, Sarah (Shaun) Puls, Marcus (Cassey) Stecker, LeAnne (Steve) Hahn, Leeza Stecker and fiancé Travis Maas, Lana (Pat) Kolbe, Kaylyn (Tyler) Figueroa, Valerie Kasper, Angie, Jagger & Mickayla Plath; great grandchildren: Lauryn Kasper, Ethan & Evan Vance, Lucas, Landen & Kinleigh Mathes, Caden, Lucas & Aubrey Puls, Mara, Cole, Will & Jackson Stecker, & Brynley Kolbe; and her sisters-in-law: Barbara Krueger & Melva (Winfred) Riemer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Lester; her sister: Gertrude (Milford) Leverenz; and a brother: Homer Krueger.



Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul (N6080 West River Road Hilbert) with the Rev. J. Patrick Niles officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
