Mary A. Narges

Mary A. Narges, 69, of Campbellsport passed away at home on Friday, March 3, 2017. She was born on May 6, 1947, the daughter of George and Marie (Goebel) Scannell. 



On July 10, 1993, she married her soulmate Charles “Chuck” Narges in the Town of Osceola. 



Mary attended UW-FDL beginning in 1980 and continued through 1984 as a nontraditional student. After obtaining her Associates Degree, Mary continued in a work study position in the Library at UW-FDL. 



She attended Marian University where she received her Bachelor Degree in Social Work in 1985. 



Following her graduation from Marian University, she worked for the Fond du Lac County Dept. of Social Services in child protection, working primarily with children with Developmental Disabilities. 



In 1987 Mary was actively involved in the founding of Free SPIRIT Riders, Inc., a therapeutic horsemanship program for differently abled children and adults. Mary was active in many Community organizations and involved in founding of Compassionate Friends, an organization for grieving parents who have lost children and served on the Board of Directors for the Fond du Lac Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. 



In 1995 she began graduate studies at UW-Milwaukee and received her Masters Degree in Social Welfare in 1999 graduating Summa Cum Laude. 



She worked for Fond du Lac County Department of Community Programs, Catholic Charities as a School Counselor, provided individual psychotherapy services to individuals and families and taught Introductory to Social Work classes at UW-Oshkosh. 



During her years of schooling, she was awarded the Lucetta Bissell Social Welfare Graduate School Scholarship, the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association Region 6 Volunteer of the Year, the Marian College Alumni Professional Achievement Award, the Fond du Lac Area Career Women’s Club “Woman of the Year” award and in 2003 the UW Milwaukee GOLD (Graduate of the Last Decade) Award. 



Mary enjoyed traveling, was a volunteer at Lakeshore Elementary School and found pleasure working with Master Gardeners in the floral garden at Free Spirit Riders. Besides her many involvements, Mary found her greatest joy and love by spending time with her precious grandchildren. 





Survivors include her husband Chuck, children Rocco (Michelle) Marchionda and Gina (Brian) Marchionda-Schneider, step-children Christy (Mark) Madigan and Brent (Sara) Narges, grandchildren Nadia, Mason, Sophia, Griffin, Owen, Cormac, Cyna, Tierney, Tillman, Andrew, Lauren and Madelyn, siblings Ed (Linda) Scannell, Mike (Rosie) Scannell, Jerry (Mary Jo) Scannell and Shirley (Rick) Straub and sister-in-law Jean Scannell, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 



Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Megan Rose and her brother Patrick. 





A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 8th at 6:00 PM at Shepherd of the Hill Catholic Church, W1562 County Road B, Eden. 



Rev. Mark Jones will officiate and burial will take place Thursday morning at 11:00 AM at Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac. 



Visitation will be Wednesday March 8th from 2:00 PM until time of Mass at Shepherd of the Hills Church. 



In lieu of flowers, to remember Mary, the family appreciates memorials to Free SPIRIT Riders. 



The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Villa Loretto in Mt. Calvary for the care and concern shown Mary during her stay there.
