Mary Ann Walgenbach

Mary Ann Walgenbach, 58, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Wednesday, March 12th at the Hospice Home of Hope where she resided the last three days, after a year and a half battle with cancer. She was born July 22nd, 1955 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Genrich) Walgenbach.

She was a graduate of L.P Goodrich High School class of 1973. Mary was known by many of her good friends and especially her best friend Karen (Crooks) Steger as “Woggie”.  She has always loved big dogs, especially her past three Great Danes and three Saint Bernard’s. Also, she enjoyed spending time in the warm and sunny weather at her home in Port St. Lucie, FL working on her famous tan. Mary had a special talent gardening and landscaping her pristine six and a half acre property and being chosen as a host of the Garden Walk. Throughout her life, Mary always expressed a strong will, with a heart of gold (along with her love of gold jewelry she wore).

Survivors include her daughter Ann Marie Sztukowski (Jeff Rahn) of Fond du Lac; Mary’s partner of 40 years, Steve Sztukowski of Fond du Lac; her brother Jim (Teresa) Walgenbach of Fond du Lac and her sister Lynn (Ron) Spanbauer of Stevens Point. She is also survived by her three loyal loving Saint Bernard’s, Charlie, Buddy, and Freddy (her three spoiled giant babies). Her parents and her brother Bob Walgenbach preceded her in death.

Visitation: Visitation for Mary A. Walgenbach will be on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 3:00 until 6:00 PM, at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E Division Street, Fond du Lac.  Cremation has taken place.

We wish to express our gratitude to Mary’s wonderful nurses at Aurora and especially to the Agnesian Hospice and Hospice Home staff for the compassionate care they gave Mary in her last days.

Mary will be deeply missed by the lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Especially by her daughter Ann Marie who couldn’t have asked for a more amazing mom.
