Matthew Gordon Fazen

Matthew Gordon Fazen, Age 59, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the youngest son of Campbellsport Deacon Bob Fazen and Betty Fazen, passed away on May 24, 2015 at Agnesian Health Care Hospice, Fond du Lac, WI. He was placed under Hospice Hope Care on Wednesday, May 13th, after battling an aggressive cancer. Brothers Bob (wife Lynn), Jim (wife Chris) and John (wife Janet) survive him along with nieces and nephews. 



Matt was born on May 11, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended McKinley Grade School, John Dewey Jr. High School and West Allis Central High School. His education continued at UW Eau Claire and UW La Crosse and he was awarded a Bachelor and Masters Degrees in English. 



Matt was a writer and a traveler. Hitchhiking over 200,000 miles, he traveled throughout the United States and Europe. As he traveled, he collected numerous friends, both male and female and correspondence discovered from his Fond du Lac apartment reflected worldwide friendships and love affairs. 



His working career included stints at Allis Chalmers and memorable years as bartender at the Faze Inn, but his career always leaned toward his love of writing and teaching. He taught high school for two years and supervised the grading of ACT Standardized Test Essays. 



Matt was an avid fan of all sports and was known to place a wager or two on the outcome of the competition. He will be best known for his empathy and non-judgmental attitude toward everyone he met. 



In his last days, Matt received a steady stream of tearful friends from all over the United States. He was loved by many.
