Ralph Edward Jahn

Ralph Edward Jahn, 101, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He was born in Fond du Lac on May 21, 1914 to Robert and Anna (Bloedorn) Jahn, and lived in Fond du Lac his entire life. He was married to Dorothy Marie Stephany on November 7, 1936, at St. Joseph’s Rectory and she preceded him in death on March 17, 1988. They were the proud and loving parents of 5 sons, all born in Fond du Lac: Robert Edward (Sally), David Allen (Sharon), Steven James(Sharon), Mark Ronald (Kathy), and Jeffrey Lynn. There are 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.



Ralph graduated from Goodrich High School in 1933 and worked for Zinke Company as a wholesale worker until 1941. In 1942 he began work at Giddings and Lewis Company as a machine tool operator and retired as a journeymen machinist in 1976. One of his outstanding accomplishments while at G&L was creating special parts for the Atlas Minuteman missile. He enjoyed playing baseball on the company team and was a member of the Oldsters group.



During his retirement years, he and Dorothy greatly enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren in Fond du Lac and states across the country, and visiting national parks and historic sites as well. They often traveled with his only sibling, Margarite and her husband Lew Zinzow.



Ralph was an avid Brewers’ fan of many years. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He will always be remembered for his love of life, his joy in remembering Fond du Lac in the early years of the 20th Century, and his special story telling abilities.



VISITATION for Ralph will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, 271 4th St. Way in Fond du Lac. MASS of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with entombment to follow in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
