Ray H. Miller

Ray H. Miller, 94, passed
away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation, Fond du Lac.

 

He was born on September 23,
1920, to Jeffrey E. and Isla B. Warner Miller, in North
Fond du Lac
.  He graduated
from North Fond du Lac High School
in 1938.

 

Ray proudly served with the
United States Army in World War II, from 1942-1945, with the 11th
Armored Division in Europe, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and
liberated several concentration camps. 
He enjoyed going on the “Old Glory Honor Flight” to Washington, D.C.
and visiting the World War II Memorial.

 

On March 11, 1944, he married
Avis A. Wahl at St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church, North
Fond du Lac

 

He was employed as an
electrician with Petrie Electric for 14 years, prior to serving as the
electrical inspector for the City of Fond
du Lac
from 1960 until his retirement in 1984.  He was a member of the International
Association of Electrical Inspectors, and past chairman of the state
chapter.  He was also a member of the
State Electrical Code Committee for six years.

 

Ray was a charter member of Luther Memorial
Church, Fond du Lac, and served on the church council
as treasurer.  He was also a trustee of
Estabrooks Cemetery Association and was a member of the senior golf league at
Rolling Meadows Golf Course.

 

Survivors include one son, John
Miller (special friend, Sandy Krueger) of Fond du Lac; two grandsons:  Neil (fiancée, Amanda Zabrowski) of Portland,
Oregon, and Douglas (Madeline), and his great-granddaughter, Winter, of Ankara,
Turkey; a brother, Kenneth of Fond du Lac; a sister-in-law, Edith of Anchorage,
Alaska; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by
his parents; his wife, Avis, on November 15, 2010; two brothers:  Gerald of Fond du Lac and Carl of Anchorage;
four sisters-in-law:  Florence Miller and
Jean Miller of Fond du Lac, Wilma Wahl of Houston, Texas, and  June Wahl of Madison; and two
brothers-in-law:  Clifford Wahl of
Houston, and Charlton Wahl of Madison.

 

The funeral service will be
held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Luther Memorial
Church
, 134 21st Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Neal Radichel
officiating. 

 

The visitation will be on
Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

Burial will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials
are preferred and may be directed to the family.
