Raymond Paul Wittkop

Raymond Paul Wittkop, 94 of Fond du Lac passed away peacefully on August 12, 2015 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac surrounded by his family. Raymond was born in Hamburg, WI on February 27, 1921, the son of Charles and Eleanor (nee Bolter) Wittkop. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946 during WW II in the European Theater. He married Helen Jean Jerschefske on June 14, 1947 in Cedarburg. He worked for Kiekhaefer Marine and Mercury Marine in Cedarburg and then in Fond du Lac before retiring. He also drove for Johnson School Bus where the kids all called him “Gramps”. Ray played baseball in the military with members of the St. Louis Cardinals and later played semi pro baseball for many years. He was a member of the Kettle Cruisers Snowmobile Club, the Dundee-Long Lake Lions Club, the Empire Thresheree and was a great Packer fan. Ray enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, making crafts from old farm machinery, selling at flea markets and selling antique s. He also enjoyed fixing things for family, friends and neighbors. 



He is survived by his wife Helen Jean, his children Raymond Alan Wittkop of Vail, AZ, Robert (Helen) Wittkop of Eden, Russ (Gina Catalano) Wittkop of Rio Rico, AZ and Becky (Mark) Ettenhofer of Aurora, CO, his grandchildren Tara (Matt) Gunther, Lance Wittkop, Jeremy Wittkop, Kyle Ettenhofer and Matt Ettenhofer, his great-grandchildren Lexi Wittkop, Abigail Gunther and Kenneth Gunther, his sister Arla DeBroux of Port Washington, his brother Jim (Berna) Wittkop of Alabama, his sister-in-law Lucille (Dick) Seeley of California, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded by his parents and his sisters Anita and Rose. 



Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday Aug. 18th at 7:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home 305 Fond du Lac Avenue, Fond du Lac. 

Visitation will be Tuesday Aug. 18th beginning with Military Rites at 3:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home.
