Reverend Donald A. Hmircik

With hope in the resurrection, we
commend to the Lord, Reverend Donald Anthony Hmircik who died on September 18,
2018, at the age of 88.

He was born
November 4, 1929, in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin
, son of Ludvig and Anna
Fritche Hmircik. Father Hmircik began his priestly formation at Saint Francis
Minor Seminary in 1944, and completed his studies at Saint Francis de Sales
Major Seminary during the period of 1950-1956. Father Hmircik was ordained to
the priesthood on May 26, 1956 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee, by Most
Reverend Albert G. Meyer.

Father Hmircik was
appointed on June 26, 1956 to serve as assistant at Holy Name Parish, Sheboygan, and appointed an assistant at Holy Redeemer
Parish, Milwaukee,
on July 7, 1965. He began serving as chaplain at the Anna M. Reiss Home, Fond du Lac, on August
30, 1968. Father was appointed on November 1, 1970 to serve as chaplain for the
Sheboygan area
nursing homes and St. Nicholas Hospital, which eventually came to be known as
the St. Joseph Apostolate for the Aging. On February 1, 1980, Father began sick
leave, and retired from active ministry on September 30, 1985.

He is survived by nieces
and nephews, Jerilyn Wasielewski, Kathleen (Glenn) Dellmann, Nancy (John
Glorioso) Francois, Patricia (John) O’Hara, Barry (Janet Didier) Hmircik,
Kristine Hmircik, Brian (Heidi Eernisse) Hmircik; special friend, Tina Montezon
and family; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents; brother, Robert (Janice) Hmircik; his favorite aunt, Barbara (Rueben)
Peterson; and other relatives.

A concelebrated
Mass of Christian Burial for Father Hmircik will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday,
September 21, 2018 at Sacred
Heart Church
,
Holy Family Parish, 200 South
Peters Avenue
, Fond du Lac
.
Visitation will also take place at Sacred
Heart Church
in Fond du Lac
on Friday, September 21, beginning at 8:30 AM and continuing until time for the
funeral liturgy. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery.
