Richard A. “Dick” Werblow

Richard A. “Dick” Werblow, age 79, of Hilbert, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born April 23, 1936 in Beaver Dam, WI son of the late Alvin & Tillie (Kroll) Werblow. Dick graduated from Juneau High School, now known as Dodgeland High School, and pursued a teaching degree from UW Stout. He later attained his Masters Degree in Industrial Education and Administration. Dick married Carol A. Becker on June 25, 1960 in Juneau, WI and the couple laid down roots in the Hilbert area where Dick taught industrial arts for both Chilton and Hilbert High School. During his teaching tenure, he also coached football for both high school teams. After deciding to leave teaching, Dick continued to work for various industries in the area until his retirement at the age of 62. He was a member of the Hilbert Lions Club and served on the Hilbert School Board where he also served a time as the School Board President. Dick was also an avid outdoorsman who belonged to various hunting, fishing and conservation groups like Ducks Unlimited. With his deep appreciation for the great outdoors, Dick looked forward to time spent fly-fishing, duck hunting, trap shooting, ice fishing and sturgeon spearing. He especially looked forward to the annual deer hunt in Wisconsin; it was an opportunity where Dick could showcase his talent as “Grill Master”. His superb cooking skills came in quite handy for his hunting buddies, who ate like kings, as he would always serve as camp cook. Dick was also a voracious reader and loved time spent woodcarving. They were golden opportunities where he could focus introspectively and think about daily life in the silence of his mind. Survivors include his wife: Carol; his children: Jenifer Schulz of Grafton, Sarah (Timothy) Evans of New Berlin; 4 grandchildren: Emily & Adam Schulz, Wesley & Elizabeth Evans; and a brother-in-law: Richard Becker of Vermont. He is further survived by nieces, cousins and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015. – See more at: http://www.wietingfuneralhome.com/obituaries/richard-a-werblow/#sthash.YkrP98IR.dpuf
