Richard A. Zwicker
Richard “Dick” A. Zwicker,
81, of Fond du Lac, died on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Hospice Home of Hope
surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born on November 24,
1936, in Fond du Lac, the son of Lawrence and Marie Wenneman Zwicker. He attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and
graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Class of 1955. He attended Marquette University in Milwaukee
and for a short time was in the Naval Reserves.
Dick worked at Kuechle’s
Interiors. On February 3, 1962, he married Karen J. Kindness. During their first year of marriage, Dick and
Karen opened Zwicker’s Maternity, Infants and Children’s Wear Store. A few years later they obtained Uniform’s,
which was a successful business for 20 years. They really enjoyed their trips
to Chicago for yearly buying trips. He
was a Scout Master at St. Joseph’s Parish for seven years. A past President of
the Exchange Club. He then worked at
Bemis Converter Films in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, until he retired at the age of
73. Throughout their years they traveled
several times to Hawaii and for more than 35 years they spend every summer in
Door County with the family, where they made many special friends and
memories.
Dick enjoyed working in the
yard, reading, travels to Door County, and especially bicycling every day since
his retirement.
Dick leaves behind his
beloved wife Karen of 55 years; his children: Susan (Joe) Michels of Fond du
Lac, James Zwicker of Fond du Lac and Michael Zwicker of Denver, Colorado; his
one and only granddaughter, Madi (Michels) who fulfilled his dream of having a
grandchild. He is further survived by
his brother, Thomas (Paula) Zwicker of Kaukauna; a very special brother and
sister-in-law, Ron and Kathy (Mumm); sister-in-law, Mary Zwicker, and many
nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were
his parents, his brother, Robert Zwicker; brother and sister-in-law, George and
Lucille Zwicker; and a nephew Tommy Zwicker.
The family would like to
thank the Cancer Center of Fond du Lac, including Dr. Joel Lundberg and his
colleague Lisa Michels, the 5 South Crew at St. Agnes Hospital, for such good
care. Most importantly the Hospice Home
of Hope, and their exceptional nursing staff and caregivers. Dick greeted every one of them by their first
name during the 5 weeks he was there…you all know who you are, you were very,
very special to Dick and his entire family.
Per Dick’s request, there
will be no visitation or services.
His Journey’s Just Begun
Don’t think of him as gone
away his journeys
Just begun, life holds so
many facets this earth
Is only one…
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows
And the tears, in a place of
warmth and comfort
Where there are no days or
years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
How nothing but our sadness
can
Really pass away.
And think of him as living in
the hearts of those he touched…
For nothing loved is ever
lost and he was loved so much.
For His journey has just
begun!
