Richard L. Steinacker

Richard L. “Richy” Steinacker, 83, of Fond du Lac went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. 



He was born in Campbellsport on April 3, 1933, the son of Hugo and Ella (nee Miller) Steinacker. 



On May 18, 1957, he married Lucille R. “Lucy” Serwe at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Ashford. 



Richy served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. 



He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and then for A.C. Nielsen Co. for over 35 years before retiring. 



He was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church and now Holy Family Parish. He was a model railroad enthusiast and a member of Midcontinental Railroad Assoc. Richy enjoyed all sports and was a great Packer, Brewer and Badger fan. 



He was very active at St. Pat’s serving in many capacities and very involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s education and activities. 



Richy played basketball, football and was an All-State baseball player and tried out for the Chicago Cubs. 



He was a member of the Campbellsport High School Hall of Fame. 



Richy deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all. 



Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife Lucy, his children Lynn (Cary) Serwe, Dan (Barbara) Steinacker, Lori (Bob) Hornung and Lisa Steinacker, his grandchildren Carissa (Adam) Donath, Brandon (Trish) Serwe, Molly and Claire Steinacker and Elyse and Michael Hornung, his great grandchildren Addison & Alannah Donath, his sister-in-law Cathy (Lee) Reindl, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 



He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Gloria Steinacker, Mary Lou (Joe) Thelen and Marjorie (Jim) Ketter, his infant brother Dale, his in-laws Math and Veronica Schill Serwe and his brother-in-law Alois (Mary Ann) Serwe. 



Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 4th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave. Fond du Lac and on Monday, Dec. 5th from 10:00 AM until Time of Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way Fond du Lac. 



In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Mary Springs Academy. 



Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Dec. 5th at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. 



Rev. John Radetski will officiate and entombment will follow in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. 



The family extends a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Cardio Vascular unit at St. Agnes Hospital and the Cardio Vascular Unit and ICU at Froedtert Hospital for their kindness and loving support for Richy and his family.
