Robert C. Bird

Robert “Bob” C. Bird, 92, of
Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Liberty House,
Fond du Lac.

He was born on July 22, 1924,
in Brownsville, Wisconsin, a son of Bennett and Ethel Bird.

In 1948, he married Beverly
Jane Moore of Oak Center.  They moved to
Fond du Lac in 1954.  They had four
children:  Alan, Jim, Judy, and Brian,
and were married 60 years before Beverly passed away in 2008.

Bob grew up a farmer, and
upon marriage, ran his own farm for a number of years, until health reasons, he
got into corn and seed sales.  He
ultimately became an independent insurance agent and sold insurance and other
financial products for 50 years, until the age of 80, when he finally retired.

Bob and Beverly were very
active members of Covenant United Methodist Church.  Bob taught adult Sunday school and bible
study, and with Beverly, participated in many volunteer youth projects
throughout the U.S.  They also provided
their home, time and love, to those in need.
In addition to their children, they often had international exchange
students, inner city kids from Chicago, and many others who were down on their
luck and needed a place to stay.

He is survived by four
children:  Al (Terri) Bird of Oshkosh,
Jim (Debbie) Bird of West Bend, Judy (Rob) Jones of Fond du Lac, and Brian
(Janet) Bird of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; two sisters:  Jeanne
(Art) Culver of La Palma, California and Ruth (Steve) Scholly of Glenview,
Illinois.

He was preceded in death by
his parents; his wife, Beverly; and two brothers:  Allan and Stanley Bird.

Special thanks to the Liberty
House staff where Bob was a resident for three years for the loving care they
showed him, and to Heartland Hospice these past several months.

Bob and Bev’s legacy is their
family, who experienced firsthand what it means to love and care for your
fellow man.  Their family carries on the
tradition that meant so much to them.
They touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew them.  They taught so many people peace and love
through their teachings and strong belief in God.
