Robert Giebel

Robert Giebel, age 94, passed
away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Tower View Villa, Rosendale.  He was born in the town of Lamartine, a son of the late Joseph and Catherine
(Laudolff) Giebel.  On November 16th,
1942, he was united in marriage to the late Mary Ann Kraus at St. Peter’s
Catholic Church, St. Peter,
WI.

Robert was a lifelong member of
Our Risen Savior Catholic Parish (St. John the
Baptist, Woodhull). Robert and Mary Ann farmed west of Fond du Lac on Forest Avenue Road until 1992.
In addition to farming, he was a carpenter for many years.  Both volunteered for Loaves and Fishes
retiring at ages 87 and 86 after many years of service.  Robert and Mary Ann made many friends over the
years dancing and playing cards, two activities they enjoyed, along with
numerous family gatherings, golfing, gardening, and traveling.

Robert served 10 years on the
Longfellow School Board, was Lamartine Town Treasurer for 19 years, as
well as serving many years as the parish secretary and fifty years as the
parish cemetery sexton.  He had also been
active in parish ministry as lector, Eucharistic minister, greeter, and
homebound parishioners’ visitor, as well as a member of finance and human
concerns committees.  Over the years, Robert
shared his carpentry skills on many projects for his children as they built and
settled into their own homes. He was known for his ready smile.

Robert is survived by four
daughters: Mary Schulz of Appleton, Rita (Curtis) Gray, Monica (Gary) Olig, and Marcia (Donald) Evenson, all of Fond du Lac, two sons, Ronald (Jeanne) Giebel and Michael
Giebel all of Fond du Lac,
12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by two
brothers, David (Joan) Giebel and Donald (Patricia) Giebel of Fond du Lac, and
a sister, Margaret Ford at the Villa Loretto, Mt. Calvary;  in-laws, Genevieve Kraus, Wilbert (Lillian)
Kraus and Ben (Mary) Kraus; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.

Robert is preceded in death by
his wife Mary Ann in August 2008, one sister, Mary Michels, and three brothers:
Alfred, Paul, and Raymond Giebel.

Visitation:  The family will
receive relatives and friends at Our Risen Savior Parish, N6499 County Hwy Y, (Woodhull)
Eldorado on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 12:45 PM. 

Service:  At 1:00 PM a Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church.  The Rev. Joseph Dominic SAC will preside.
Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in
his name may be directed to Agnesian Hospice Hope or St. Mary’s Springs Academy.
