Obituary for Robert Russell (Hack) Bohlman

Robert Russell (Hack) Bohlman, 93 passed away from cancer on
November 29, 2016 at the Woodlands in Fond du Lac. He was born January 8, 1923
at Log Tavern in the town of Empire to the late Frank and Florence (Gibbons)
Bohlman.

Hack got his nickname as a young baseball player. Hack Wilson
played for the Chicago Cubs, and in 1930 hit 56 home runs and 191 RBI, a record
that still stands. Hack graduated from Goodrich High School in 1941. He began
work at Rueping Leather and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served
in the 382nd and 495th anti-aircraft in World War II. He was discharged from
the U.S. Army in 1943 and began his working career in Chicago, IL. He also
played semi-pro baseball in northern Illinois. He married Lois Louise Morrow in
Chicago, IL on May 17, 1947. She preceded him in death in March 2000.

Hack worked in sales as a manufacturers representative from
1947 to 1990. He worked for Weinstein & White from 1955-1963, moving to
Fond du Lac in 1960. In 1963 he started his own firm, Bohlman and Associates.
Hack retired in 1990. Hack was a Little League coach for several years in the
60’s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Elks and the Eagles. He
was a regular member at Rolling Meadows golf course after his retirement,
playing in three golf leagues, where he made 2 holes-in-one after retirement.
Hack was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish.

Hack married Mary Indermuehle Zacherl on December 18, 2004.
They wintered in Sun City, AZ up through the 2015-2016 winter season.

Survivors include wife Mary, one son, Stephan (Joan) Bohlman
of Middleton, WI, and three daughters, Laurie Bohlman of El Grenada, CA,
Adrienne (Tom) Wolcyn of Cambridge, MN and Luanne (Jerry) O’Connor of Fond du
Lac. He is also survived by five stepsons Louis (Kathy) Zacherl of Broomfield,
CO, John (Susan) Zacherl of Fond du Lac, Michael (Julie) Zacherl of Hancock,
WI, Peter (Jennifer) Zacherl of Fond du Lac, and Matthew (Melanie) Zacherl of
Fond du Lac.

Survivors also include 10 grandchildren, Kristin (Matthew)
Sorensen, Lindsay (Rob) Borland, Mary Jo (Matthew) Kronberger, Benjamin (Becky)
Wolcyn, Nicholas (Heather) Wolcyn, Clint (Angela) Wolcyn, Robert (Shauna)
Wolcyn, Zachary Romuald, Arielle (Jordan) Myers and Jacob Romuald and 11
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 14 step-grandchildren and 14 step
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Viola Bohlman and
many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife,
Lois, 2 brothers, Lester and Gordon, 2 sisters, Beatrice Rautenberg and
Rosemary Bohlman, and a son-in-law, Michael Romuald.

Visitation: Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5,
2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St.,
Fond du Lac. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, from 9:30 to
10:45 AM.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial
will be in Calvary Cemetery.
