Roger F. Krentz

Roger Franklin Daniel Krentz, Ph.D, 76, died at his home on Tuesday November 8, 2016 which he shared with his sister, Patricia A. Nikolai. 



Roger Franklin Daniel Krentz son of the late Gilbert W. and Susan M. Bukowski Krentz, born Tuesday, 30 January 1940 at 4:55 a.m. and baptized on 11 February 1940 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Princeton, WI by Rev. Thomas V. Jankowski. 



Sophie Jezeski Bukowski and Edward A. Krentz were his godparents. 



He received First Holy Communion on 10 October 1948 from Rev. Francis S. Karwata in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Princeton, WI and was confirmed by Bishop William P. O’Connor on 10 October 1950 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Princeton, WI. 



Bernard Sina was his confirmation sponsor. 



He was received into the Third Order of the Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Ancient Observance) on 24 August 1960 and professed on 8 October 1961. 



Dr. Krentz attended St. John the Baptist Parochial School, Princeton, WI and in 1954 attended St. Joseph Minor Seminary, Peterborough, NH. 



He graduated from the High School of the Sacred Heart, Madison, WI in June 1958. 



He attended Waushara County Teachers College, Wautoma WI 1960-1962, received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and library science in 1965 from UW-Stevens Point, a Masters degree in library science in 1976 from UW-Milwaukee and a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction (Media Technology) and Higher Education Administration in 1986 from UW-Madison. 



He also studied at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. 



Dr. Krentz was active in the American Library Association, the Wisconsin Library Association, The Wisconsin Association of School Librarians, and the New Jersey Library association. 



He was elected the president of the Wisconsin Association of School Librarians in 1984. 



He served on the Wisconsin Library Association Board and chaired numerous committees. 



During his professional career he was a library consultant to school districts and a frequent presenter at library conferences. 



He was a member of the American Friends of the Vatican Library. 



He worked as a teacher at Holy Name of Jesus School, Kimberly, WI 1962-1966; elementary school librarian (McLane and Green Tree schools) and West High school for Joint School District, West Bend, WI 1966-1970; elementary school library at Lincoln School, Dubuque, IA 1970-1979; District Library Media Director, Platteville Public school, 1980-1987; Head of the Learning Materials center, UW-Whitewater, Whitewater, WI 1987-1996; Associate Library Director of the congressman Frank J. Guarini Library, New Jersey City University, Jersey City, NY 1996-2006. 



He also taught courses in the college of education, UW-Whitewater. 



He was a church organist by avocation. 



He served as organist at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wautoma, WI 1960-1962; The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Princeton, WI 1967-1969; St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena, IL 1970-1979. 



He was also an amateur genealogist. 


He is survived by his sister, Patricia Ann Nikolai and his closest friend, Darrell B. Perry, besides nephews, cousins, and friends. 



A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated with the Very Reverend Regis N. Barwig, Prior of the Community of Our Lady, officiating along with Rev. Augustine H. Serafini, private interment followed at Calvary Cemetery.
